Moving Away from Cloudflare: ALTCHA's Transition to European Infrastructure

Esta página aún no está disponible en tu idioma.

ALTCHA, a privacy-focused project built in Europe, is designed for businesses constrained by GDPR regulations. Until recently, ALTCHA’s SaaS features were hosted on DigitalOcean and protected by Cloudflare’s CDN—two services often considered problematic from a privacy standpoint.

But as of today, ALTCHA’s SaaS services have officially moved away from Cloudflare. All services are now hosted on Hetzner (Germany) and the CDN is provided by bunny.net (Slovenia).

This transition guarantees that ALTCHA’s SaaS services are now hosted on European-owned infrastructure, fully compliant with EU data privacy regulations.

Why Hetzner?

Founded in 1997 in Germany, Hetzner Online is one of Europe’s largest data center operators. The company owns and runs high-tech data centers in Nuremberg and Falkenstein (both in Germany), as well as Helsinki, Finland. They also have additional facilities in Ashburn, Virginia, and Hillsboro, Oregon, USA, as well as Singapore.

Notably, Hetzner’s data centers in Germany have been powered by 100% hydropower since 2008, ensuring energy efficiency and sustainability.

ALTCHA uses Hetzner to host its servers and databases in Falkenstein, Germany, and Hillsboro, Oregon.

Why Bunny.net?

Founded in 2014 in Slovenia, Bunny.net is a rising star in the CDN market, offering a global network for fast, reliable content delivery.

ALTCHA leverages Bunny.net’s CDN for efficient content caching and as an API gateway, enhancing the performance of its SaaS services.

By moving to European-based infrastructure, ALTCHA strengthens its commitment to privacy, security, and compliance with the strictest data protection laws.
